Man gets life for colleague’s murder

Shillong, May 8: A person has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his colleague more than three years ago.

On Tuesday, the court of the session’s judge, Shillong, convicted Rajesh Rabha alias Raphel Rabha to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for the murder of Vijon Rabha.

If the fine is not paid, he stands to spend another year in prison. On March 20, 2011, Rajesh assaulted 21-year-old Vijon alias Rijoy Rabha, who later succumbed to his injuries, at Flavours restaurant, Laitumkhrah, where the duo worked.

East Khasi Hills superintendent of police M. Kharkrang said the investigating officer, sub-inspector Lucas D. Sangma, who is now officer-in-charge Mawryngkneng police station, was able to build a strong case against the accused.
