Storm damages villages

Shillong, May 8: Villagers of Nonglum Mawiong under Umroi constituency and Sohpdok under Mawhati constituency were hit by a storm around noon today.

According to reports, the storm damaged more than eight houses in Nonglum Mawiong and around 20 in Sohpdok.

Ri Bhoi deputy commissioner Pooja Pandey said two people were injured at Nonglum Mawiong and they have been admitted to the Bhoirymbong community health centre. Three others were injured at Sohpdok and were taken to the Umsning community health centre. Among the three injured, one has been discharged.

Pandey also said an assessment of the damage is being done by the administration.
