Calcutta: CC&FC were crowned champions of the BHA League on Wednesday.
CC&FC pipped Punjab Sports club to the title by virtue of having a better goal-difference. While CC&FC had a goal difference of +2, Punjab Sports Club finished with +1.
Punjab Sports Club could have straightaway become champions had they defeated Calcutta Customs Club in the first match of the day, at the Mohun Bagan ground. But they only managed a 1-1 draw.
The result of the first match meant that CC&FC had to win their match against ERSA by a two-goal margin to emerge champions of the league. CC&FC began on the right note taking the lead through Ajit Pandit early in the match. Gagandeep Singh (Jr) scored a late goal to make it 2-0 in CC&FC’s favour.
In the second division, Khalsa Blues AC were crowned champions.
