Rohit pleased with MI show

The Mumbai Indians seem to have finally found their form on the Indian soil. While they lost five matches in the UAE leg of IPL VII, they now have two back-to-back victories at their home ground, the Wankhede.

Excerpts

Rohit Sharma: It was by far the best performance from our side. This is what Mumbai Indians are all about… We play hard and we play with a lot of passion. It was a complete performance. We batted well, bowled well and fielded well… Today, we also took some brilliant catches.

The wicket eased out during the second innings… But the bowlers did really well to restrict RCB… They didn’t give them any freebies. They kept things simple and it worked out really well for us.

(Pawan) Suyal came back very well and things slowed down for RCB. We kept taking wickets at crucial junctures and the bowlers didn’t allow the batsmen to settle down. They always kept up the pressure on the batsmen by bowling at a tight line.

It was important for me to step up and I’m glad I played an important knock. I needed to stay calm and composed at the wicket today… Thankfully, my shots came off well.

Virat Kohli: We are disappointed… The target was achievable… We only needed to bat better and play smart cricket… Chris (Gayle) and Parthiv (Patel) gave us a good start… It was actually a dream start, but we could not capitalise on it. We needed only one more partnership and the job would have been done.
