MS Dhoni praises batsmen

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni praised his batsmen after CSK beat the Delhi DareDevils by eight wickets, in New Delhi, on Monday. Dhoni, at the same time, urged his bowlers to improve their show, especially death bowling.

Excerpts

Mahendra Singh Dhoni: I think we have played good cricket, but we conceded too many runs in the last couple of overs. The rain really helped us in our chase. It made bowling very tough for the DareDevils and they couldn’t execute their yorkers well. Laxmi bowled really well for them in the middle overs. It was a good win but we need to improve.

Kevin Pietersen: We were competitive throughout the match, but lost some momentum during the rain. Their batsmen played well. We got so close. I thought the boys played some good cricket. Nobody is here to blame anybody. We are not going to give excuses either. We have to win most of our games but our team is good enough to get to the play-offs.

Dwayne Smith (MoM): I just wanted to stay out there, I knew I could score the runs. The ball came on to the bat nicely and I could back myself to play my shots. Myself and Brendon kept encouraging each other to get going.
