Joint raid busts hideout

Silchar, May 4: A hideout of the Bru National Army was busted early today near Kalakhal on the Assam-Mizoram border in Cachar districtís Dholai block during a raid, jointly operated by the troops of the 15 Assam Rifles battalion and the sixth Assam police battalion.

A senior police official told this correspondent that four cadres of the outfit were rounded up while two others fled. At least eight rifles, a large cache of arms and a .9mm revolver were recovered.

The arrested cadres include Rajesh Chorki, 27, secretary of the outfit, which carries out kidnapping and extortion along Mizoramís borders with Cachar and Hailakandi districts and the adjoining North district of Tripura.
