Cachar club triumph

Hailakandi, May 4: Cachar Sporting Club defeated Son of India by two wickets in the Silchar DSA third division cricket championship at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium today but are yet to be declared champions because of a protest lodged by the opponents.

Son of India were bundled out for 122 runs in 21.2 overs. The match was curtailed to 23 overs because of overnight rain.

Cachar Sporting achieved the target losing eight wickets in 23 overs.

Son of India accused the opponents of fielding fielding unregistered players.

Cachar Sportimg’s skipper Tinku Laskar also admitted that some unregistered players played in the final on behalf of the team. He, however, said his team was ready for a replay of the match.

DSA cricket secretary Arijit Gupta said the matter would be sorted out in a meeting of the cricket section of DSA tomorrow.
