Guwahati, May 2: Gauhati Town Club ensured their place in the final by registering a five-wicket victory over Navajyoti Club in the second semi-final of the Bhupen Chandra Mahanta Memorial Guwahati Sports Association A Division Cricket League at Nehru Stadium here today.
Batting first, the Navajyoti boys put up a total of 158 runs before being all out in 32 overs.
Arminder Singh Oberoi scored 43 runs off 42 deliveries, which featured four hits to the fence and one over the ropes, while Parag Kr Das chipped in with 28 runs off 23 balls with five boundaries.
Nipon Deka was another notable contributor with an unbeaten run-a-ball 23 runs.
Dhimanjyoti Das was the pick of the GTC bowlers with four wickets for 34 runs in his six overs while Sujit Gowala scalped two wickets going for 39 runs in his allotted seven overs. Nayan Deka bagged wicket conceding 21 runs in five overs.
In reply, the GTC batsmen didnít face much difficulty as the side got past the target losing five wickets in 30.1 overs. Sujit Gowala topscored with an unbeaten 48 runs off 35 balls, which included six hits to the fence and one over the ropes while Nayan Deka contributed 36 runs off 31 deliveries with four boundaries and a six.
Deep Bora remained unbeaten with 24 runs off 34 balls. Parag Kr Das, Abhijit Singha Roy, Chanakya Sarma and Sushanta Singha Roy picked up one wicket each.
Earlier yesterday, Ankurjyoti Club registered a 24-run victory over Navarang Club to book their place in the final.
Ankurjyoti Club will lock horns with Gauhati Town Club in the final tomorrow.
