Siliguri, April 30: The members of the Trinamul-backed West Bengal Primary Teachers’ Association have filed a complaint with the subdivisional officer of Siliguri against a transfer order which was issued to a primary teacher.
They have alleged that the move is a violation of the model code of conduct.
The WBPTA members met Deepap Priya P, the Siliguri SDO, who also is the assistant returning officer of the Darjeeling parliamentary constituency, today and demanded that the transfer order be withdrawn immediately.
Anik Chakraborty, the teacher whose transfer order was issued yesterday, is working at Phanibhushan Prathamik Vidyapith in Siliguri at present.
According to Chakraborty, Hiranmoy Mondal, the sub-inspector of schools (Siliguri West), had issued an order yesterday transferring him to the Public Primary School immediately. Both the schools are located in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation area.
“I received a letter from Hiranmoy Mondal, the sub-inspector of schools (Siliguri West) yesterday. It states that I have been transferred from Phanibhusan Prathamik Vidyapith to Public Primary School with immediate effect. However, the model code of conduct is in force right now and issuing a transfer order during this time is a violation of the code,” Chakraborty said.
“Today, we submitted a complaint to the SDO demanding immediate withdrawal of the order,” he said.
Deepap Priya P. the SDO, said: “I have reported the matter to Puneet Yadav, the district magistrate of Darjeeling who is also the district election officer.
