Calcutta: Ten-man Pune FC suffered a 0-3 loss to Dempo SC in a final round I-League encounter in Pune on Monday.
A brace from Afghan defender Haroon Amiri (20th & 25th minute) put Dempo SC in the driver’s seat before a late strike from substitute Jeje Lalpekhlua (90th) handed the visitors all three points.
The hosts played the second half with 10 men after defender Gurjinder Kumar was sent-off for a second bookable offence in the 55th minute. The loss meant Pune FC ended their I-League campaign in the seventh place.
Coach Mike Snoei made three changes to the lineup handing starts to Shanmugam Venkatesh, Calum Angus and Douhou Pierre. Twenty minutes in, Amiri put the visitors 1-0 up heading home Holicharan Narzary’s cross in from the right.
