Rossouw in for Nic

Calcutta: The IPL Event Technical Committee has approved South African Rilee Rossouw as a replacement player for Australia’s Nic Maddinson in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the remainder of IPL VII.

Left-handed batsman Maddinson, 22, opened the batting for the Royal Challengers in two games, scoring 4 and 12 respectively.

The Event Technical Committee had approved replacements for the injured trio of Maddinson, Delhi DareDevils’ Nathan Coulter-Nile and Chennai Super Kings’ Dwayne Bravo.

As per the IPL player regulations, the three franchises can choose replacements from among the players who registered for the 2014 auction but were not bought.

Also, Lendl Simmons has been approved as a replacement for Jalaj Saxena in the Mumbai Indians squad for the remainder of the IPL 2014 season.

“Simmons is eligible to play for Mumbai Indians with immediate effect,” read an IPL media release.

According to a PTI report, the DareDevils are mulling on South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir as a possible replacement for pacer Coulter-Nile.

The DareDevils have only two specialist spin bowlers in left-armer Shahbaz Nadeem and leg-spinner Rahul Sharma.
