City team bags top titles

Guwahati, April 27: The Central Taekwondo Training Centre walked away with the top honours on the final day of the 31st Kamrup District Taekwondo Kyorugi Championship held at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today.

With a tally of nine medals including five gold, three silver and one bronze medal, Central Taekwondo players dominated the proceedings in both the junior boys’ and girls’ categories respectively.

Faruk Alam of Central Taekwondo Training Centre clinched the under-48kg gold.

In the under-51kg category, Vargab Choudhury of North Guwahati Taekwondo Centre emerged champion.

Nirman Rupam Kashyap of SAI, Guwahati clinched the gold medal in the under-45kg category.

In the under-63kg category, Sanjoy Boro from Boko bagged the gold.

Kammei Jaang Sinlung Kabui of Central Taekwondo Training Centre won the gold medal in the under-68kg category.

Hriday Lahkar of Dispur Training Centre bagged a gold medal in the under-73kg category.

Suryyanshu Saikia of West Guwahati Taekwondo Training Centre won the gold in the under-78kg weight category.

In the junior girls’ category, Shabnam Begam of South Point School emerged champion in the under-46kg category.

Rifkabini Choudhury of Central Taekwondo Training Centre bagged the gold medal in the under-49kg category.

In the under-52kg category, Payel Das of SAI, Guwahati won the gold medal.

Indira Das of Central Taekwondo Training Centre clinched the gold medal in the under-55kg category.

Aadritee Bharadwaj of West Guwahati Taekwondo Training Centre won the gold in the under-59kg category.

Alina Tongbram of Maria Public School won the gold medal in the under-63kg category while teammate Anna Tongbram clinched her gold medal in the under-68kg category. Shelly Kaur emerged champion in the over-68kg category.
