I stayed positive: Aaron

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Shikhar Dhawan heaped praises on opener Aaron Finch and No. 3 batsman David Warner after the duo put up a 128-run unbeaten partnership for the second-wicket, helping their side register 184 for one, against the Delhi DareDevils, on Friday. The Sunrisers bowlers then restricted the DareDevils to 180 for four to clinch a thrilling four-run victory.

Excerpts

Shikhar Dhawan: It’s a great feeling to win and we needed it to boost our confidence. We knew we have the right players to fetch us wins and we just needed to click… And we did. Our head coach Tom Moody is still very fit and he does deliver some beautiful lectures that inspire us.

Kevin Pietersen: It was a great game of cricket. It became very close in the end. I can only say that we are not far off from getting a win.

We were a bit lazy on the field after the first six overs. We shouldn’t be so. We have to get into the game early and take the momentum away from the opposition.

Aaron Finch (MoM): I remained positive right from the start. The partnership with Warner was crucial and that helped us post a big total.

It was a conscious decision on our part to bat for as long as possible, as we knew the wicket would be difficult for the new batsmen.
