FC Imphal blank Nambul Mapal

Imphal, April 25: FC Imphal drubbed Veteran Sports Association, Nambul Mapal, by 2-0 goals in the 16th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament 2014 at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

The teams went goalless in the first half.

Veteran Sports Association’s woes continued as it was reduced to 10 men after Motilal was sent off for a deliberate handling inside the danger zone in the 35th minute, giving away a penalty to its opponent.

FC Imphal player Gaiphulung Kabui converted the penalty in the 36th minute for the lead.

FC Imphal came up with their second goal in the 38th minute with Th. Krishna making a pass to Lokenbabu who fired home for the winning goal.

In another match, Sadar Hills beat Khurai Veteran Football Association by a solitary goal. Goalless in the first half, Sadar Hills struck in the 36th minute after the keeper blocked Ngamkhosat’s shot.

Songkhosat pounced on the ball to slam home the winning goal.

Hill Premier League: DSA Sadar Hills moved into the final, defeating DSA Chandel by a solitary goal in the first Hill District Premier League, 2014 played at Public Ground, Churachandpur, today. Thtangtilen struck the winning goal in the 84th minute.

The second semi-final saw DSA Churachandpur drub DSA Ukhrul by 3-0 goals to sail into the final. Gulkhosim, Lalrintlung and Helun Haokip scored the goals.

Reception: The All-Manipur Powerlifting Association will hold a reception for medal winners who have recently participated in the national sub-junior, junior and senior bench press championship held at Jammu and Kashmir, at Elangbam Leikai on Sunday.
