SC date for murder case

New Delhi, April 24: The Supreme Court will hear on Monday Trinamul dissident Hriday Ghosh’s plea for a Calcutta High Court-supervised “fair investigation” into the murder of his father by suspected party activists following a provocative speech by Anubrata Mondal.

The apex court had initially fixed the matter for hearing on May 2 but changed it to Monday after Hriday’s counsel Vikramjit Banerjee pleaded for an early hearing, saying “the accused are being protected at the behest of the chief minister”.

One of the 41 accused in the case surrendered in a Birbhum court today.
