Calcutta: It’s to be seen whether the Board’s interim president (non-IPL), Shivlal Yadav, censures Haryana Cricket Association chief Arvind Chaudhary for reducing the level of discourse during Sunday’s emergent meeting of the working committee, but the vice-president from East, Chitrak Mitra, is fuming.
“I’m waiting for the minutes of the emergent meeting to be circulated. If the Haryana representative’s call to have a probe panel comprising Kareena Kapoor-Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta isn’t recorded, I’ll insist that’s done,” Mitra told The Telegraph on Tuesday.
That such an outrageous proposal had been made was reported in these columns on Monday.
But why didn’t Mitra object during the emergent meeting?
“I wasn’t quite prepared for something so absurd to be said and I thought I must first cross-check with some of the others who were present... Now, if that bit is edited, I’ll insist it’s not done... That person has to be shamed for reducing the Board to a circus,” Mitra pointed out.
Mitra is among the most senior of officials and, to his credit, hasn’t joined those only too happy to keep bowing before Narayanswamy Srinivasan.
