City, Bud in final

Guwahati, April 21: City Cricket Club will meet Bud Cricket Club in the final of the first Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazarika T20 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here tomorrow.

In the semi-finals today, City rode an all-round performance by Romario Sharma to beat Ankurjyoti Club by 89 runs while Rishav Das’s batting blitz helped Bud get the better of Maharana Athletic Club by 77 runs.

In the first semi-final, City elected to bat and Sharma’s 43 off 29 balls, laced with five fours and two sixes, helped them post 178 for nine in 20 overs. The Ankurjyoti batsmen were bundled out for 89 in 18.4 overs.

Sadek Imran Choudhury also remained unbeaten on 30 (3x4) for City while Rohit Sharma of Ankurjyoti claimed three wickets for 25 runs. Rio Pramanik chipped in with two for 33.

It was Sharma’s haul of six for 13 runs, ably supported by Chandra Deep Das with two for 19, that helped City make short work of the Ankurjyoti innings. Prahlad Gayan (25, 2x4) and Erik Roy (19, 2x4, 1x6) were the main scorers for Ankurjyoti Club.

Sharma was named Man of the Match.

In the other match, Bud elected to bat and Rishav Das scored a quickfire 75 (8x4, 2x6) off 50 balls to help his side post 154 for six in the 20 overs. The Maharana batsmen were skittled out for 77 in 13.4 overs.

Apart from Das, Kunal Saikia chipped in with 19 (3x4). Md Shahid scalped two wickets for 25 runs in favour of Maharana.

For Maharana, Fahim Naaz (21, 2x4, 1x6) was the only notable scorer. Dwipen Gohain of Bud hauled four wickets for 17 runs and Swarupam Purkayastha picked up two for 19.
