Fairyland, Ganesh Nagar win

Guwahati, April 21: Fairyland High School and Ganesh Nagar High School registered contrasting wins in their respective matches of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly inter-school cricket tournament, organised by Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre, at Nehru Stadium here today.

While Fairyland clinched an eight-run win against Ulubari Higher Secondary School, Ganesh Nagar School got the better of Asom Jatiya Bidyalay by 59 runs.

In the morning match, Fairyland elected to bat and were restricted to 123 for nine in the 25 overs. The Ulubari boys were all out for 115 in 23.4 overs.

Arun Pradhan (29, 6x4) and Anil Singh (24, 1x4) were the main scorers for Fairyland. Chandan Baruah of Ulubari claimed three wickets for 27 runs while Jintu Kalita bagged two for 20.

For Ulubari, Abdul Basid scored 37 (2x4) and Amar Tigga scored 17 (3x4). Arun Pradhan of Fairyland bagged three for 18 runs and Anil Kr Pandit picked up two for 16.

In the afternoon, the Ganesh Nagar boys batted first and were all out for 152 in 22.5 overs chasing which the Jatiya Bidyalay batsmen were bundled out for 93 in 18.1 overs.

Balaji Mahato topscored for Ganesh Nagar School with 29 (4x4) while Khairul Islam Khan chipped in with 26 (4x4) and Abhishek Rajbhar remained not out on 20 (2x4).

Aarunik Choudhury and Bikash Barman of Jatiya Bidyalay shared three wickets each conceding 26 and 41 respectively while Bikash Kakati claimed two for 15.

For Jatiya Bidyalay, Rupam Deka scored a run-a-ball 19 (2x4) and Biraj Patgiri made 14 (2x4).

Abhishek Rajbhar and Khairul Islam Khan picked up three wickets.

In tomorrow’s matches, Don Bosco School will play SAI RNS Academy and Srimanta Shankar Academy clash with Angels of God High School.
