Goalpara thrash Hojai boys

Guwahati, April 16: Goalpara inflicted a 75-run defeat on Hojai in their match of the second Umananda Bora under-13 Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Batting first, Goalpara put up 175 runs before being all out in 35.1 overs. Hojai were bundled out for 100 runs in 33.2 overs.

Despite an early blow, Manjeet Deka and Abhishek Dey steered the Goalpara ship to safety with some responsible batting. Deka went on to score 35 runs off 80 deliveries while Dey chipped in with 34 runs off 29 balls.

Hojai bowlers gave away a total of 71 runs in extras. Mohit Koyal bagged three wickets conceding 17 runs in 4.1 overs while Rohan Nath picked up two wickets giving away 18 runs off his six overs.

Dhiraj Kr Yadav topscored for Hojai with 25 runs off 57 deliveries with three hits to the fence while Krisna Singh contributed 22 runs off 38 balls. Lower order batsman Bikram Bhimsaria chipped in with 14 runs while Rohan Nath scored 10 runs.

Abhishek Dey was the pick of the Goalpara bowlers with four wickets to his kitty for 22 runs while Gaurav Das bagged two wickets conceding 19 runs in his six overs.

On Sunday, Tinsukia thrashed Barpeta by 88 runs.
