ON FRONT FOOT

10 questions

TT: Why should people vote for you?

Choudhary: I am the best. Be it academic, professional, integrity, credibility, I have a proven record in black and white. Ranchi, in the last 25 years, has cut a sorry figure. It is non-existent in Parliament because of faces that poorly represented it. Without being an MP, if I can put Ranchi on the world map, can you imagine what I can do by being an MP?

What is your vision for Ranchi?

To make it evolve as the best state capital in the world. See how we developed the stadium. We can plan Ranchi too.

With less than three days left for polling, how do you feel?

Honestly, a bit nervous, which is only natural before every big exam. Even Einstein felt nervous. I wish I had some more time. Fingers crossed

Lok Sabha election is unlike a cricket association election.

Over the last year or so I tried to touch every soul of Ranchi. The response has been tremendous. People are angry that two regular faces who used to represent Ranchi did nothing for them

Who is your strongest opponent?

I would say, reluctantly, BJPís Ram Tahal Choudhary

You refer to him as ďchachaĒ during campaigns. Were you trying to connect with his Mahto-Kurmi community?

That was out of courtesy (smiles)Ö due to his seniority

You fight with Ajsuís Sudesh Mahto looks never-ending.

He isnít in this fight. He is just fighting with posters in the city

The Opposition has complained to the poll panel that you are misusing the cricket stadium for political gain

Those who complained donít understand the law

Your assessment of the JVMís chances.

We are going to double our present tally of two MPs

You were a tough cop. But those in your bike rallies are violating the law by not wearing helmets.

Thanks for raising this point. I will certainly advice my supporters to follow rules
