Calcutta: Shooter Joydeep Karmakar on Saturday lodged an FIR alleging vandalism at his training range in the North Calcutta Rifle Club.
The shooter claimed that his electronic target wires were snapped for the second time in six months and alleged it was a deliberate attempt to derail his preparations for the national trials.
“It is an unfortunate incident. It’s really frustrating to find the wires damaged on Saturday morning, days before I’m set to leave for Delhi for the trials... It was perfect till Friday afternoon. It is a deliberate attempt to derail my preparations for the trials.
“The target is installed inside the hall and the security personnel are clueless. I’m not blaming the club for the mishap. But, certainly, the job is done by insiders with an ill motive… They are either targeting me or trying to malign the club,” Karmakar, who has lodged a complaint at the Ultadanga Police Station said on Saturday.
“I’ve been telling the club to install CCTVs… But they didn’t pay any heed to my suggestion. It’s high time to act on my advice.”
