Good day for Attacker

- 1st place in veteransí and 3rd spot in menís team events

Imphal, April 11: Biren Attacker defeated Warrior 3-0 to win the team competition in the veteransí category of the first Manipur Tennis League, 2014, being played at IDTA Tennis Complex in Lamphelpat here today.

In the first game, Biren Attacker players T. Pamei and N. Rajen defeated Tule Thongbam and A. Romio of Warrior 8-6. The second game saw Tule and Th. Ibungomacha go down to N. Ranjan and N. Aldrin. In the final game, T. Pamei and A. Biren beat A. Romio and Th. Ibungomacha 8-3, as Biren went on to claim the championís title.

The third place went to LB Aces who defeated KK Challenger 2-1. LB Aces duo N. Kangjamba and L. Prakash got the better of N. Dilip and L. Pradip 8-2 in the first game and N. Kangjamba and Bit Irom defeated N. Khellen and N. Dilip 8-5 to make it 2-0.

However, Challenger players Pradip and Khellen bounced back in the third game to beat Prakash and H. Sanatomba 8-4.

Biren also claimed the third spot in the menís team event, defeating KK Challenger by 3-0 games. In the first singles match, Rk. Pritam beat Azad Khan 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 while N. Premjit beat Y. Leelenjee 6-1, 6-3 in the second game. The third game was doubles match where Biren Attacker duo N. Premjit and Rk. Pritam drubbed Y. Leelenjee and Azad Khan of Challenger 8-0.

The finals for the menís team event will be played tomorrow between LB Aces and Rhino. LB Aces are currently leading 1-0. The under-10 boys and girls and under-14 boys and girlsí final matches will also be played tomorrow.

Mountaineering: The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association is organising the Tejpur University Adventure Camp at its MMI Complex at Lamdan from tomorrow. Managing director of Manipur Development Society, Y. Ningthem Singh, will inaugurate the camp.
