NFR beat Titabar

under-13 cricket

Guwahati, April 11: NF Frontier Railway Sports Association edged past Titabar by four runs in their match of the Umananda Bora Trophy Inter-district under-13 Cricket Tournament at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Put in to bat, NFRSA batsmen put up a total of 143 runs before being all out in 30.4 overs.

Lower middle order batsman Injamul Haque scored 20 runs off 18 balls, which included three boundaries while opener Jivitesh Kashyap contributed 16 runs off 55 deliveries with one hit to the fence. Priyangshu Saha and Hrishav Dey chipped in with 13 runs each while Argha Chakraborty with 12 runs was the only other batsman to reach the double-figure mark. The side got a total of 65 runs in extras.

Dimbeswar Kachari and Tridip Borah scalped three wickets each while Om Prakash Das picked up two wickets conceding 28 runs in six overs. Krishna Das and Debasish Phukan took one wicket each.

In reply, Titabar batsmen missed their chance of ending on the winning side as they managed 139 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 35 overs.

Opener Tridip Borah topscored with 37 runs off 68 deliveries, which featured four boundaries while Debasish Phukan chipped in with 24 runs off 27 balls with two hits to the fence. Shivam Mittal scored 14 runs off 43 deliveries while tailenders Boidurya Phukan and Krishna Das contributed 11 runs each. Thirty-three runs came as extras.

Argha Kr Chakraborty was the pick of the NFRSA bowlers with five wickets in his kitty for 31 runs in his eight overs while Nitul Sankar Saikia scalped two wickets for 32 runs.

Barpeta will play Dhemaji in tomorrow’s match.
