Undertrial dead

An undertrial, accused of theft, died all of a sudden on Friday morning inside Ghaghidih Central Jail on Jamshedpur’s outskirts.

Identified as Anil Mishra (64), a resident of Chand Mohammedpur area in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the man was sent to the central jail after Tatanagar railway police arrested him in January for allegedly offering passengers edibles mixed with drugs.

On Friday, Mishra was taken to prison hospital from where he was referred to MGM Medical College and Hospital.

He was declared brought dead.

Jailer Saytendra Chowdhury claimed Mishra died of heart attack. Insiders said he regularly took drugs.

The body has been shifted to MGM Medical College for an autopsy by a three-member board. The entire process will be videotaped.
