Rajkot/Mumbai: Chintan Gaja and Kamlesh Thakor's good bowling and an unbeaten 46-run knock by Smit Patel helped Gujarat beat Jharkhand by six wickets in the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy, in Rajkot, on Tuesday.
Gujarat first restricted Jharkhand to 108 for eight and then achieved the target losing just four wickets and with 11 balls to spare.
Electing to bat first, Kumar Deobrat top scored for Jharkhand with 25. Thakor was the most successful bowler for Gujarat, taking three wickets, while Gaja got two. Smit played the lead role during Gujarat's chase scoring 46 off 37 balls. For Jharkhand, Samar Quadri took three wickets giving away 16 runs.
In another match, captain Swapnil Asnodkar made an unbeaten 70 as South Zone toppers Goa beat Haryana by eight wickets.
Put to bat, Haryana could manage only 116 for 9. For Goa, L. Garg took three wickets conceding 31 runs while Gauresh Gawas grabbed two for 28. Goa overhauled the target with 12 balls to spare.
