CMJ official summoned

Shillong, April 1: Meghalaya police will interrogate a former registrar of Chandra Mohan Jha (CMJ) University, days after the arrest of the chancellor of Apex Professional University, Arunachal Pradesh.

Tilok Das Gupta, former registrar of the CMJ University, appeared before the police interrogation team today after summons were issued to him. Hours later, the court of the chief judicial magistrate sent Gupta to four daysí police custody, sources said.

The sources also said Gupta had served as the registrar from November 2011 to May-June 2012.

Last month, the police had arrested Dhanwant Singh Matharoo, chancellor of Apex Professional University in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, for his alleged role in the affairs of the CMJ University. Matharoo is still in judicial custody, the sources said.

The Supreme Court had recently cancelled the anticipatory bail of CMJ University chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha, which could lead to his arrest.
