Mumbai FC beat Lajong

Shillong: Hosts Shillong Lajong FC could not hold on to an early lead and was upset by lowly placed Mumbai FC 1-2 in a 21st round match of the Airtel I-League, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, on Sunday.

The victory also meant an end to Mumbai FC’s winless eight-game phase in the league. The last time they won a match was against Pune FC on December 7.

Lajong’s Trinidad and Tobago recruit Cornell Glen opened the account in the 18th minute. But a wayward defence let them down. The visitors found the equaliser in the added time of the first half through Alfred Jaryan. Ashutosh Mehta netted the match winner in the 50th minute.

Cheered on by the home crowd, the men in red started aggressively, with Glen and Uilliams Souza Silva partnering well up front.
