Kalighat beat Sikkim United

Hailakandi, March 30: Kalighat Milan Sangha, Calcutta, defeated Sikkim United FC by a solitary goal at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar yesterday in a final leg match of the second division I-League.

Receiving a pass from just outside the Sikkim United goal box, Tahoon Biswas found the net for the all-important goal in the dying minutes of the rather one-sided game. Kalighat earlier got at least five corner kicks but could not capitalise on them.

In another league match at the same stadium in the evening, Royal Wahingdoh FC held Hindustan FC to a goalless draw.

In an evenly-matched contest, both sides were stuck in a battle of attrition.

Beekay Bawar of Royal Wahingdoh squandered an opportunity to score in the 34th minute as did Hindustan FC’s Dipak Mehra, who couldn’t get past Royal goalkeeper Nikhil Bernard at close range in the 45th minute.
