New Delhi: Pitted against second seed Wang Shixian in the first round of the India Open, beginning here on Tuesday, PV Sindhu is confident of sailing past her Chinese rival in front of home crowd.
“I will play in front of my home crowd… that’s a big advantage though the draw is definitely tough,” Sindhu said on Saturday. “Moreover, beating Shixian is not new to me. I had beaten her thrice before and hope to do the same again,” she added with a smile.
Sindhu seems to be more concerned with her possible second-round opponent, Sayaka Takahashi of Japan. “In the 2012 Malaysian Open, I lost to her. The result should be different this time,” she hoped.
