Calcutta: The millions who want cricket to remain clean are applauding Justices Ananga Kumar Patnaik and Ibrahim Kalifulla, but their “proposals” have left much unsaid and have caused confusion as well.
On Thursday evening, The Telegraph spoke to quite a few men associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, but even they were “clueless” on the way forward on two issues.
(A) What would happen to the players retained and bought by the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals for IPL VII and beyond?
While the Super Kings have the Mahendra Singh Dhonis, the Royals have the Sanju Samsons. How can the players, big and small, suffer?
Is there a need to have a fresh auction, scrapping the one held last month?
(B) Who will conduct the probe taking forward the Justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal committee report?
A special team appointed by the Supreme Court? The Central Bureau of Investigation? The Board?
Also, would there be a time-bound investigation?
Hopefully, there will be clarity on Friday when Justices Patnaik and Kalifulla pass an order on two issues.
