Hojai declared winners

Hailakandi/Guwahati, March 26: Hojai were declared winners by virtue of a first innings lead against Rangiya in the Hailakandi zone J.K. Baruah Trophy inter-district under-19 cricket championship at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium. The match was put off on the second day today as the outfield was rendered unplayable after heavy overnight rain.

Hojai had a first innings lead of 254 yesterday after Rangiya were bundled out for 74 before lunch.

Hojai will play Hailakandi on March 28-29.

In another match at Diphu, Goalpara drubbed Bajali by an innings and 117 runs at the Karbi Anglong Sports Association ground here today.

Goalpara had scored 230 in their first innings in 57.3 overs. Akash Sengupta was the topscorer with 60 runs while Delwar Hussain played a cameo, scoring 50 off just 58 deliveries.

Bajali, in reply, were bundled out for 88 in 37 overs with Goalpara bowlers Mouchak Rabha and Dhrubajyoti Das taking four and three wickets respectively.

Goalpara chose to enforce the follow-on and saw the opposition crumble to 25 in just 13 overs. Dhrubajyoti Das was the pick of the bowlers with six wickets.
