Imphal, March 25: X-Fitness Polo Club outplayed Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club by 7-1 goals today to move into the quarter-finals of the fourth 57th Mountain Division Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung here.
X-Fitness took the lead from the first chukker with Th. Jacob scoring three goals to become the first rider of the tournament to score a hattrick.
X-Fitness tightened their grip with K. Samananda making three precise hits to the goal to take a leap of 6-0 in the second chukker.
Th. Jacob scored again for X-Fitness in the third chukker to make the tally 7-0.
Ibudhou managed a goal with K. Rishikumar pushing home a goal in the fourth chukker and had to made a sad exit from the tournament.
In another match, Tekcham Polo Club (A) defeated Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club (A) by 5-3 goals en route to the quarter-finals.
North Imphal Sporting Association crashed out despite posting a 2-1 goal win over Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union today in the first L. Bhagyachandra Memorial Invitation Football Tournament at THAU ground.
Despite the loss, Tiddim Road team will make it to the last-four stage of the tournament with better goal average. North Eastern and Tiddim Road teams have six points each but with the former scoring six goals and the latter with four goals in the tally.
The last league match saw H. Anilkumar and Glomei scoring a goal each for NISA and G. Anthony Kabui fetching the lone goal from apenalty. Two NISA players, Sanatomba and Rojendro, and Tiddim Road Unique player Suresh Rai were sent off with a red card.
