Calcutta, March 22: Deputy election commissioner Vinod Zutshi will hold meetings with Bengal poll officials and political parties during a two-day visit to Calcutta beginning on Monday.
Congress MP Pradip Bhattacharya and the CPM’s Surjya Kanta Mishra said the Opposition parties would lodge complaints of “violations” of the model code of conduct and “harassment” by Trinamul and the government. Bengal chief electoral officer Sunil Kumar Gupta’s office will present figures regarding enforcement of law and order.
Zutshi is slated to meet Gupta, Calcutta police commissioner Surajit Kar Purkayastha and inspector-general (law and order) Anuj Sharma on Monday. On Tuesday, Zutshi is scheduled to chair an all-party meeting and a five-and-a-half-hour session with the authorities of all 19 Bengal districts.
