Charaideo put up 239 runs

Guwahati, March 21: Charaideo today rode an unbeaten 99 by opener Manashjyoti Gogoi to pile up 239 with four wickets intact in 95 overs on the first day of their three-day Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district elite group cricket tournament first semi-final against Nagaon at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here.

Put to bat, Charaideo had a steady opening of 30 runs between Gogoi (99 batting, 8x4) and Mujibur Ali (11, 1x4) before the latter was caught by Hokaito Zhimomi off Dhiraj Goswami.

New man in, Imdadul Saikia (47, 7x4) also gave solid support to Gogoi and they shared a stand of 97 runs for the second wicket.

Mihir Gowala (22, 2x4) and Asif Ahmed (16, 2x4, 1x6) were the other main scorers.

Left arm spinners Bichitra Baruah and Ashok Saini struck for a couple of scalps each for 38 and 28 runs respectively.

Parthajit Gogoi was also unbeaten on 15 (1x4) at close of play.
