Naharolgi Thoudang lift trophy

Imphal, March 20: Naharolgi Thoudang posted a 29-run victory over Poknapham to claim the champions title of the 4th AMWJU Inter Media Sports Meet 2014 at Luwangpokpa cricket stadium today.

Electing to bat, Naharolgi Thoudang rode Limonjit Singh’s hurricane knock of 41 runs while Sanjoy Singh got 22 runs.

Rajachandra Singh fetched 11 runs for the team total of 82 for 1.

Poknapham bowler Niranjan Singh claimed the lone wicket.

In reply, Poknapham batsmen failed to click as Naharolgi Thoudang bowler Bigyan wreaked havoc, claiming four wickets.

Poknapham batsmen Niranjan and Keshonanda were the topscorers with 13 runs each but fell short as they were bundled out at 53 for eight in the limited 12-over match.

Naharolgi Thoudang bowler Bormani Singh picked up two wickets while Sanjoy and Rajachandra fetched a wicket each.

Kangleipak football: Defending champions Imphal East District Football Association beat Imphal West District Football Association by a solitary goal to retain the champion’s title of the 3rd Inter-District Kangleipak Football Trophy 2014 at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Imphal East won Rs 20,000, along with the trophy, while Imphal West got Rs 15,000.

In the students’ category, KSA beat SUK by 2-1 goals for the title.

In the marathon event of the meet, Kh. Romajit bagged the top spot while W. Sunil, Umakanta Singh and M.Sunil Singh bagged the second, third and fourth spots.
