Calcutta, March 19: Deputy election commissioner Vinod Zutshi will meet senior officials of the Bengal poll panel on March 25 to take stock of preparations for the Lok Sabha elections, sources said.
The IAS officer from Rajasthan will participate in a videoconference with the district magistrates and police superintendents.
“The deputy election commissioner is scheduled to discuss law and order in the districts,” said a senior official of the state election commission, adding that the alleged regrouping of the KLO in north Bengal and the Maoists in Jungle Mahal would figure prominently in the talks.
“KLO remains a cause of concern in north Bengal because of the way they have been operating there over the past few months,” a state election commission official said. “We are trying to work out ways of stepping up vigil in the Maoist-infested zones.”
Bengal poll panel officials today met the district magistrates and the police chiefs to discuss law and order.
