Spotlight on Ranty

Shillong: Inspired by their success against table-toppers Bengaluru FC last week, Rangdajied United FC (RUFC) will look to upset United SC when the two sides meet in an Airtel I-League match, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Polo ground, on Sunday.

With Bengaluru defeating Churchill Brothers on Saturday, RUFC will have a chance to leapfrog the Goa team if they can bag three points on Sunday. Both sides are placed at the bottom of the table with 15 points each from 17 games.

RUFC assistant coach Khlainpyrkhat Syiemlieh said the team is upbeat after defeating Bengaluru. He said Yohei Kawasaki would return to the team for the match after recovering from an injury.

Sunday’s match will also witness RUFC striker Ranty Martins play against his former club. The striker had scored the winning goal against Bengaluru last week and will be expected to deliver again.
