Patna, March 8: Voters whose names do not figure on the electoral list have a chance to claim their voting rights, tomorrow.
In accordance with the Election Commission’s directive, district election officers would hold special enrolment camps at 59,807 poll stations across the state tomorrow. Booth-level officers have been asked to be present from 9am to 5pm to help bona fide voters register.
Patna district deputy election officer Baijunath Singh said: “On Sunday, booth-level officers would be present with Form 6, used for inclusion of name in voters’ list; Form 7, for correction in list; and Form 8, for deletion of names. The voters’ list would be displayed. If a voter’s name is missing or there are errors, he/she can fill up the respective form and submit it to the block level officer.”
The camp is for a day, but inclusion, correction and deletion of names will continue till 3pm on last date of filing of nominations.
Voters can contact election officers at the district headquarters or visit the election commission website.
“The Electoral Photo Identity Card is only an identity document and does not confer on its holder voting right if the name is not there on the electoral roll,” said a Patna district administration official. Polling will take place in the 40 seats from April 10 to April 30.
Patna district magistrate N. Saravana Kumar, also the Patna district election officer, met bankers today and directed them to keep a check on sudden deposit of heavy amount in accounts of electoral candidates or workers of different parties, as it violates the model code of conduct.
