Calcutta: Courtesy his consistent performance and inspiring leadership in the Ranji Trophy, Bengal captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla will lead East Zone in the Deodhar Trophy, to be played in Visakhapatnam from March 23.
Besides Shukla, Manoj Tiwary, Wriddhiman Saha, Sreevats Goswami and pacer Ashok Dinda are the ones from Bengal to secure a berth in the East Zone squad.
Manoj, Wriddhiman and Sreevats are all in good touch, having made significant contributions for Bengal in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Apart from Bengal cricketers, Jharkhand feature six of their players — Saurabh Tiwary, Ishank Jaggi, Samar Qadri, Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Shukla and Kumar Deobrat.
Assam opener Parvez Aziz and their captain Abu Nechim Ahmed have also made the squad, while Odisha’s Deepak Behera and Natraj Behera have also secured themselves a place.
