More celebs in BJD fold

Bhubaneswar, March 7: Actors Mihir Das and Satyaki Mishra and singer Trupti Das joined the BJD here today.

Mihir is visible in every other Odia film with power-packed performances and might pull in some voters. But Trupti Das, once the most sought-after singer, is now almost invisible in the audio and playback scene.

Similarly, Satyaki Mishra’s fan following is doubtful. Yet, Naveen Patnaik today formally announced the three joining the BJD.

“I will work hard as an activist for the party,” said Satyaki, adding that he had campaigned for the party five years ago and hence. “I am glad to have joined the BJD now,” he said.

Trupti Das said it was her personal choice to join the ruling party.

“I have seen that in the BJD, women are given their due respect. Though I always wished to be associated with politics to serve people, now I have found the time for it. If the party chief wishes, I will contest in elections. Else, I will be happy to work just as a member. People have showered their love for me and now I get a chance to do something for them. I hope to work for women’s issues,” she said.

“My family members have been in the BJD’s Cuttack wing for long. So, it (the party) is like a family for me. Hence, though I got offers from various parties, it was not tough for me to decide to join the BJD. It is a new experience and I am happy to have joined,” he said.
