Body in empty bus

Ranchi, March 4: Police recovered the body of a 30-year-old youth from a bus parked at Lalit Oraon Bus Stand in the heart of Gumla township, some 85km from the capital, this morning.

Identified as Bhawani Singh (30), a bus cleaner, his body has been sent for autopsy.

SP (city) Bhimsen Tuti said though the autopsy could give the exact reason behind the death, prima facie it appeared to be a cold death as the youth had no woollens or blanket on him.

A locality resident said it was starvation death. “Due to chilly rain, the youth didn’t get cleaning work. Yesterday the rebel bandh in Simdega worsened his case as buses did not come to Gumla from Simdega. He did not earn or get anything to eat,” he said.

Gumla subdivisional officer A. Dode offered a third reason. “He may have died after drinking excessively,” he said.
