MPSC enter semis

Imphal, March 3: MPSC (B) got the better of Cosmopolitan by 6-1 goals to move into the semi-finals of the second Y. Rashmani Memorial Invitation Menís Open Seven-a-Side Hockey Tournament at Kontha Ahallup in Imphal East today.

Cosmopolitan surprised the cops with an early goal through Rk. Bikramjit Singh in the sixth minute. Manipur Police came back with L. Purnachandra getting the equaliser in the seventh minute to level scores 1-1 in the first half.

In the second half, Manipur Police got their second goal through L. Purnachandra in the 37th minute, who went on to fetch his hattrick in the 41st minute to post a 3-1 tally.

Manipur Police struck two more goals through P. Jupiter and Th. Rakesh wrapped up the match with the sixth goal in the 55th minute for the victory.In another quarter-final, Manipur Police Sports Club (A) thrashed Hockey Union by 13-2 goals en route to the semi-finals.

Ksh. Wangamba struck five goals for the policemen while P. Priyokumar and P. Adeva scored two goals each, S. Tarunkumar, Th. Birjit, S. Rabi and N. Gunamani fetched a goal each.

N. Jelele scored two goals for Hockey Union.

Trekking: The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association is organising 71st Combined Adventure Course at its MMI Complex at Lamdan from March 10.

Football: Hiro Hito registered a solitary-goal win against Aqua Dewin in the Xenoh Corporate Football Challenge at Tabungkhok in Imphal West.
