Payap Shinawatra, the brother of Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, meets the chief priest of Watpa, a Thai monastery in Bodhgaya on Saturday. He performed rituals at the monastery to pray for the long life of Phra Bhodhi Nandha Munee, the chief priest of Watpa. Payap, who is a Buddhist like his sister Yingluck, would leave for Thailand on Sunday. Thailand, where 95 per cent of the population practise Buddhism, has witnessed protests on the streets, especially its capital Bangkok, in the past three months. It was not immediately known whether Payap, the only brother of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was ousted in a coup in 2006, came to Bodhgaya with peace prayers for his country, but from Saturday itself the situation in Bangkok has changed a lot with protesters scaling down their agitation against the embattled Prime Minister.
