Manipur Police drub Eastern

Imphal, Feb. 28: Manipur Police Sports Club (A) defeated Eastern Sporting Union (B) by 5-2 goals to claim the championís title of the IWDFA first Womenís Open Futsal Tournament at Pishumthong ground here today.

Manipur Police got an early lead with O. Bembem Devi striking home in the first minute of play.

The policewomen consolidated through Ronibala Chanu in the ninth minute to post a two-goal lead.

Eastern Sportingís efforts paid off in the 18th minute with Umapati Devi getting her teamís first goal.

They got cracking again with Prameshowri Devi getting the equaliser from a penalty in the 27th minute.

However, the Manipur Police tally got better with Chan Chan pushing home the third goal in the 34th minute. Ronibala Chanu fetched the fourth goal in the 36th minute and O. Bembem Devi wrapping up the match in the 38th minute.

The Manipur Police team got Rs 10,000 while Eastern Sporting got Rs 5,000. The Best Disciplined team was SAI RC. Police striker O. Bembem was named Man of the Final and the First Scorer of the Final.

The Topscorer Title was awarded to Ng. Bala Devi of Manipur Police.

State polo: Khurai Polo Club galloped into the final thrashing Manipur Police Sports Club (A) by 12-4 goals in the 30th State-Level Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today. The other semi-final saw Manipur Police Sports Club (B) beat Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (A) by 16-3 goals to sail into the final.

Seven-a-side hockey: SYUC beat YCCIC (B) by 2-1 goals in the second Y. Rashmani Memorial Invitation Menís Open Seven-a-Side Hockey Tournament 2014 at Kontha Ahallup ground. Manipur Police Sports Club (B) beat Henjunaha by 3-2 goals.

Corporate football: Langol View thrashed Shija Hospital by 4-1 goals in the second Xenoh Corporate Football Challenge organised by Hero Foundation and TBSFA at Tabungkhok ground today.

Babina Diagnostic drubbed Khumujam Ent by 7-0 goals while Torque FC blasted AMRTD and MWU by 7-0 goals and Rajpri Ent beat Aircel by 2-1 goals to move into the next round.
