Calcutta: Mohammedan Sporting will face an uphill task when they take on second-placed Sporting Clube de Goa in Friday’s Airtel I-League match, at the Salt Lake Stadium.
The teams come into the fixture on the back of contrasting forms as Mohammedan Sporting have lost their last four I-League matches, while Sporting Clube are on a five-match unbeaten run.
Coach Sanjoy Sen, though, feels the team would do well if they don’t put unnecessary pressure on themselves. “We don’t want to pressurise ourselves by constantly thinking about the team facing relegation. We know what we have to do to pull ourselves out of the drop zone. What’s needed at this point in time is to play freely. Even if we can’t win tomorrow, we must regroup and focus on securing full points from our next game,” Sen said on match-eve.
Poor finishing had undone Mohammedan Sporting against Salgaocar. They dominated for a better part of that match, but kept missing chances. Ashim Biswas is recovering fast and could play a part. Sen also indicated that there could be two to three changes in the playing XI.
