Media cricket meet from today

Guwahati, Feb. 26: Hosts Assam Sports Journalists Association (ASJA) will meet Electronic Media XI in the inaugural match of the Dyna Roof ASJA Media Quadrangular T20 Cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.

In the other match of the day, Assam Photo Journalistsí Association will play Guwahati Press XI in the afternoon.

All the four teams will play one another in a round-robin league before the two top teams in the points tally meet each other in the final on March 3. The teams will comprise select working journalists from their respective fields who have performed in earlier tournaments this season. Some of the teams will also comprise former professional players who have represented districts as well as states in different levels.

Apart from Dyna Roof Pvt Ltd, which is the title sponsor of the tournament, several well-wishers of the ASJA, including the directorate of sports and youth welfare and the Board of Sports of Assam, are co-sponsoring the five-day meet.

Thangmeiband Athletic Union posted an 18-run victory against Eastern Sporting Union in the first MCA Plate Cricket Tournament at Luwangpokpa cricket stadium today.

Veteran T20: IWVCC posted a 54-run victory over Uripok Cricket Club in the second T20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal ground.
