Cape Town: Momentum is with South Africa when they head to their favourite ground for the third Test against Australia, here, at the Newlands, Hashim Amla said on Tuesday.
“Newlands has been a happy hunting ground for us over the last few years, but Australia are a good team,” Amla reminded.
“There is a lot riding the last game and fortunately, we have the momentum and that is what we are going to try and take into the match. Going into the last Test, it will be important to assess the conditions as early as we can.”
Amla, who scored an elegant hundred in the second innings in Port Elizabeth, said the squad felt they were now playing much better cricket.
“Players got hundreds and the bowlers bowled well. It’s a better situation to be in at 1-1, having won the second Testů We are certainly in an advantageous position and will have an edge over Australia,” he said.
Meanwhile, pacer Kyle Abbott has been included in the squad for the third Test.
Australia coach Darren Lehmann said: “In Port Elizabeth, at the end of the day, we got absolutely flogged.”
