Khurai ride into last four

Imphal, Feb. 25: Khurai Polo Club upset Thoubal District Polo Association by 5-2 goals to ride into the semi-final of the 30th State-Level Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today. In another match, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (A) galloped into the semi-final, defeating Meiraba Polo Club by 7-5 goals.

Players’ Day: The 15th Shannaroishingee Numit (Players’ Day) 2014 was observed with the felicitation of 64 international players at Khuman Lampak sports complex.

Track suits and mementoes were presented to the players by youth affairs and sports commissioner Rk. Nimai Singh.

Khurai rider L. Thompson scored the opening goal and P. Ojit struck the second goal in the first chukker.

In the second chukker, P. Jyotin struck his team’s third goal. P. Ojit Singh scored two quick goals to increase the lead in the third chukker.

Thoubal rider M. Doren scored his team’s first goal and Kh. Tombi pushed home the second one.

The fourth chukker failed to produce any more goals and the Thoubal riders had to exit the tournament.

In another match, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (A) galloped into the semi-final, defeating Meiraba Polo Club by 7-5 goals.
