Imphal, Feb. 23: Manipur Police Sports Club (A) drubbed Eastern Sporting Union (A) by 8-2 goals in the IWDFA first Womenís Futsal Tournament at Pishumthong in Imphal West today.
Policewoman H. Thoi Devi fetched the opening goal in the first minute. O. Bembem Devi consolidated in the third minute and Ng. Bala scored one goal in the sixth minute.
Just before the first-half whistle, H. Thoi Devi fetched the teamís fourth goal in the 18th minute. Eastern Sporting Union jumped back into the game with Kashmina picking up her teamís first goal in the 21st minute. However, Manipur Police came back with Ng. Bala and O. Bembem scoring a goal each. Eastern Sporting got lucky in the 30th minute with K. Tony Devi scoring their second goal.
However, the battle was over, with policewomen O. Bembem and S. Ibeyaima scoring the winning goals. In another match, Eastern Sporting Union (B) beat Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club by 5-2 goals. In the last match, Manipur Police Sports Club (B) beat SAI RC by 8-2 goals.
Seven-a-side hockey: YCCIC (A) registered a 5-1 goal win against Cosmopolitan Wangkhei in the opening match of the 2nd Y. Rashmani Memorial Invitation Menís Open Seven-a-Side Hockey Tournament 2014, which got under way at Kontha Ahallup, Imphal East today.
N. Priyokumar fetched three goals while W. Devasor and N. Sanjoy fetched a goal each for YCCIC. N. Gyanandrajit struck the lone goal for Cosmopolitan from a penalty corner.
