Bud defeat Navarang

Servo cricket

Guwahati, Feb. 20: Bud Cricket Club inched closer to their title dreams as they registered a five-wicket victory over Navarang Club in second semi-final of the Servo 21st Guwahati Challenge Trophy All-Assam Cricket Tournament organised by River Rine Club at Judges Field here today.

Put in to bat, the Navarang batsmen could only manage 143 runs before being bundled out in 37.4 overs. Chasing the modest total, Bud batsmen eased past the target in 30.1 overs losing five wickets.

Rajib Kalita scored 42 runs off 52 deliveries for Navarang while Jyotiraditya Chetia chipped in with steady 38 runs off 84 balls. Kaushik Oja was the other notable contributor with 24 runs off 30 deliveries. Pacer Dhiraj Goswami scalped four wickets conceding 23 runs in his allotted eight overs while off spinner Swarupam Purkayastha picked up four wickets going for 29 runs in 7.4overs. Debabrata Roy took one wicket for 16 runs in his allotted overs. Bud rode Kaushik Giriís unbeaten knock of 55 runs off 65 deliveries while Roshan Basfor contributed 25 runs off 33 balls. Biplab Saikia chipped in with 22 runs off 38 deliveries. Rituparna Phatowali picked up two wickets conceding 28 runs in six overs while Amit Boro and Sekharjyoti Barman scalped one wicket each. Dhiraj Goswami walked away with Man of the Match honour for his fine show with the ball.
